Minecraft requirements changed in 2026

Mojang’s July 2026 Java Edition guidance targets 1080p at 30 FPS on the Fast preset for the minimum specification: a 64-bit system, 8GB of RAM with a discrete GPU or 12GB with integrated graphics, a four-core processor, and a Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM. The recommended target is 1080p at 60 FPS on the Fancy preset with 16GB of RAM, a stronger modern processor, and a more capable graphics card with 6GB of VRAM.

Java, Bedrock, mods, or shaders?

Bedrock Edition

Generally the simpler path for standard Minecraft play on Windows. It is also the edition used for cross-platform play with supported console and mobile players.

Java Edition
